Throop Teams

Care for Our Congregation

At Throop, caring for one another is at the heart of our community. These teams offer meaningful ways to serve, connect, and grow—whether by nurturing spiritual exploration, supporting members through life’s challenges, or working toward justice. Explore the roles below to see how you can help care for our congregation.

Our Throop Ministry Teams are filled with kind-hearted volunteers who enthusiastically expand the ministry outreach of our minister and staff.

Faith & Spiritual Exploration Team

Oversees our children’s program, which comprises Nursery Care, Kids Dig In! and Coming of Age programs. Through these programs, we foster a sense of belonging among all ages, nurture age-appropriate spiritual growth and exploration of UU faith, and provide opportunities to live out our shared values in the wider world while deepening ecological consciousness.

Member Engagement Team

Extends a warm welcome and helps create a sense of belonging at Throop. This Team provides opportunities for connection and community building for Throop members and friends, and they also create pathways into Throop for curious friends and welcomed visitors.

Pastoral Care Team

Extends the care and nurture of the ministry of our church, through one-to-one helping and listening activities by lay members of the congregation to members or friends of the church who are in special need. This is a ministry of presence and support.

Social Justice Team

Extends our message of liberating Love into the wider world and offers spiritually-grounded opportunities for Throop folks to live out our shared values in meaningful ways. We engage in social justice through five primary components: Education, Service, Advocacy, Witness, Mobilizing.

Worship Team

Collaborates with our Senior Minister and Worship Staff to provide vibrant, multi-sensory, inspirational UU worship services 52 Sundays a year. This Team includes our Choir and Music Program, Lay Preachers, Lay Readers, Livestream Tech, Throop Players, Visual Arts, and Worship Associates.
